Many SJSU faculty members seek funding from outside the University for conducting specialized research and public service projects, underwriting faculty conferences, purchasing equipment, or for other discretionary activities. The SJSU Foundation provides the business management infrastructure that supports faculty/sponsor relationships in two general categories:

  • Research grants and contracts funded by government agencies, corporations, foundations, and other non-profit organizations
(For more information go to Developing Your Proposal)

  • Activities such as faculty-hosted seminars, conferences, and workshops; construction and renovation projects; and student scholarships funded by private donations and fees. These activities are referred to as self-supported programs.
(For more information go to Self-Supported Projects)

Managing external funding can be a complex process and varies considerably from agency to agency and donor to donor. Regardless of the source of funding, the Foundation's pre- and post-award services are designed to make it possible for you to focus on your research, rather than on research administration.

The information in this portion of the website is designed to assist you throughout the process of acquiring, managing, and reporting on externally funded projects of all kinds.
